Terence McKenna and artificial intelligence

"This is a medium so permeating, so inclusive of what we are, that its agenda, in a sense, supervenes the agenda of organic evolution and organic biology."

(Once again, tip of the hat to Dedroidify.)

Thanks for posting this. Leaves me wondering what it means for something to be "supervened" and also if he's talking about the tension between our ape nature and Blackmore's memes/temes.

His talk does echo Blackmore's thesis, doesn't it?

Tangential stream of consciousness: unless AI takes the form of a being taking action _against us_ it can only be benificial to us in the extreme. Either way, does not seem to be on the horizon anywhere soon.
Btw, AI shouldn't imply "being smarter than us" or should it? ;)
