For some years there could be little to no acorns and then ther will be a year with a hugh amount. There is probably an evolutionary benefit from this, meaning that in the years where there is an overabundance, more acorns will sprout while in the years where acorns are lean, it will tend to curb the population size of the animals that eat the acorns.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147219.post-45627543727752230232008-12-02T12:53:00.000-06:002008-12-02T12:53:00.000-06:00You'd never know it to look at my yard. I've pulled more sprouting acorns out of my gardens this year than in years past.Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06101983582935220159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147219.post-89961387578118611812008-12-02T05:33:00.000-06:002008-12-02T05:33:00.000-06:00http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mast_yearhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mast_yearAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147219.post-92097117755097737522008-12-02T05:22:00.000-06:002008-12-02T05:22:00.000-06:00Revenge of Gaia?First it came for the frogs. Then t...Revenge of Gaia?

First it came for the frogs.

Then the bees.

Now, the acorns.

Who's next?
