Yes but for how long. :-)
I find it disturbing when the underground becomes commercialised.
The beat thing has managed to remain hip (or hep) for fifty odd years - lets hope it stays that way.

Rest assured that if "Beat" goes mainstream it won't be because "Da Vinci Code" readers are suddenly taking to Kerouac and Corso...

haha - strange image that. Like 'adults' reading Harry Potter.
Mind you it doesn't really equate to reading does it? More like the reinforcing of stereotypes (race class etc)
Anyway, I think we can rest assured that Burroughs is a bit too ickky to be popular.
