Some things you need to know before the world ends

And if the war on terror isn't enough to put Israel on the side of the angels, John Hagee has argued that "the United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God's plan for both Israel and the West". He speaks of "a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ."

War is hell . . . but if you keep at it long enough it's heaven.

It's just a pity that when these guys do get their self-fulfilling prophecy they're not even going to know how wrong they were - 'cos they'll be dead like the rest of us. Fucking morons!

I'm inclined to agree with the analysis that every war, past, present, and future, is fought for economic reasons, but sold in some other package.

There was a post over at Boing Boing a while ago about the Rapture crowd getting all worked up, ready to rise into the sky. It had excerpts from message boards along the lines of "I been having Rapture dreams and the signs are there and I'm so happy."

I like to rapture these people on the side of their heads with a dose of reality. Normally I believe in "Live And Let Live," but when some of these extremists are affecting world events -- and our existence -- then I can't keep quiet about it. Self-fulfilling prophecy on a global scale can get a lot of people killed –- for nothing.

Bah, what foolish nonsense. Now Nostradamus’ prophesies.... (snicker)

Hope you're staying cool, Mac!
