At an anti-gay marriage rally Tuesday in Raleigh, North Carolina, David Gibbs III, the Christian fundamentalist lawyer who fought to keep brain-damaged Terry Schiavo on life support in 2005, publicly expressed his deep-seated fear of machine love.
Not much to say here except that in the quote he is not talking about love but about marriage. Marriage is a legally binding contract, it has nothing to do whatsoever with love in that sense. (And you can't yet have a legally binding contract with your dog or robot.) As far a love is concerned, and presumably he is too, I don't see how that is anybody elses business.
Perhaps a brand new "Cherry 2000" complete with a cute little kitchen apron would change David's mind about robot love.
