I just realized that the hand in this illustration resembles the "hand" in this telescope image. It's a fairly superficial resemblance, I suppose, but for some reason I felt compelled to blog it.
One finger too many (or less)? Why are aliens, cartoon characters, etc, shown with only three fingers? (and a thumb) Are humans unique in having five digits instead of four? Must be much more difficult to build complex machinery with only four digits...
