J.G. Ballard, one of my favorite writers, has died. (The frightening prospect is that his apocalyptic legacy might be just beginning.)

You forgot Terence McKenna!
ReplyDeleteIt's not just a bunch of dead white guys, it's the whole 20th century that's dying - and I'm sure all of these guys would have approved of that.
Although...
I'm reminded of a Bruce Damer interview on the C-Realm, where he talked about hanging with McKenna and seeing his immense library. He thought to himself "my God, he's read all of these books". This deep, studious reading informed all of his upper atmospheric musings - Damer's worry was that this sort of scholarly approach might be in danger of dying out - the so-called 'pancake people' problem of a hyper connected, insta-whatsit-whosit, internet world.
