Even if I lived in the SF area, I WOULD still have an excuse for missing RR's art show. And my excuse would be this. Quite honestly, I find his art (as well as much of his recent writing) too cutesy by half. RR seems to be equating what is, in essence, a mystical perspective on things with warmth and fuzziness and it ain't necessarily so! (BTW, his much earlier book on Infinity is my Bible on the subject.)
Warm and fuzzy? In my opinion his work is playful -- even silly -- but in a *good* sense. His stuff has always had a wacky, hallucinatory edge to it (see his first novel, "White Light"); that's why I like him.
