Melting Planet

Species are dying out faster than we have dared recognise, scientists will warn this week. The erosion of polar ice is the first break in a fragile chain of life extending across the planet, from bears in the north to penguins in the far south.

My mom always gets upset when I tell her I don't want to bring kids into this world with this future.

"Cap'n", she tells me. "There have always been Wars and Discord and Strife."

And I say, "Not on the scale it's going to be."

Then she calls me "Cap'n Bad News", or "Buzz Kill" and goes along on her merry Scarlett O'Hara way.
