Went to the doctor today. I was futilely hoping for a quick, definitive explanation; instead, I'm having an ultrasound scan tomorrow. Maybe I'm pregnant! That might explain it . . .

If you don't mind talking about this, why the ultrasound scan? Did the doctor mention what he thought the problem might be? How long before you get the results?

At times parallels can be made between doctors and garage mechanics, especially modern day mechanics with those newfangled diagnostic machines they hook up to a car. In my most cynical moments, I think what the doctor uses to scan your brain is the same unit the mechanics uses, a device with fancy lights and readouts that is one step above voodoo. :-)

Good luck with finding out what is wrong.

Best,

Ray

Ha! (And good thinking!)

Apparently my symptoms are abnormal enough to warrant a scan. (They're certainly painful enough...) The usual medicines don't do anything, so I guess this is the next step. I personally hope the ultrasound does show something wrong, so "they" can fix it.

(Personally, I think I have a xenomorph gestating inside me.)

Perfectly routine re: the unltrasound. I had one a few years ago when I had similar problems - nothing wrong that an enema couldn't cure.

Er... you do realize that's where this is all heading, don't you?

Enema?

I forgot to mention - barium enema.

It only really hurts when you move. Alas, you have to move a lot.

And that concludes today's episode of "Ask Dr. Kimball."

Heh, I was going to say that all those hot femalian aliens that you alway talk about finally decided that you'd be a perfect "host".

Well, they're the perfect hostesses, so it would only be fair...

Or maybe it's that book that's been "gestating"

You may have a point :-)
