Objectophiles who harbor passionate sexual love for buildings and steam-engines

Der Spiegel has an article on the theories of Volkmar Sigusch, a German researcher whose studies of "neo-sexuality" have led him to assemble case-studies of men and women who fall in deep, passionate, sexual love with objects, from the Berlin Wall and the Twin Towers to a toy steam engine.

Well, I _do_ "love" the old Italian Legnano racing bike I rebuilt with an exotic psychedelic paint job and outfitted with, at the time, top of the line Campagnolo gearing, hubs, derailleur, etc. over thirty years ago, and it's a sweet, silent, ride, but...uh...I don't think I want to _fuck_ it. I mean, how would you...uh, ahem. Never mind. We are engaged, however...planning a June wedding...OK, I'll stop there. Heh.

Objectophiles, huh? Kind of the height of "objectification" of the sexes, eh? So, next time I see some dude drunkenly humping a "Wendy's" burger joint, I guess I'll know what's really going on! I'll then have to recommend, gently, a therapist I know whose head looks like the Guggenheim Museum. Oh, wait, that might be a mistake...8^}
