On July 1st I'm moving into a new (cat-friendly) apartment in Independence, Missouri. It's modest but appealing, with lots of shelf-space and a corner bedroom. I can't wait to decorate! Luckily, I'm right across the street from the Vaile Mansion, a local Victorian landmark that could easily be a prop from a Tim Burton movie.

What a beautiful place! I've heard of this mansion before. It's supposedly haunted, with neighbors reporting to have heard screams coming from it at times. You'll have to let us know if you experience anything "spooky".
Jezzie--
I love the Vaile. I've toured it a few times and would move in (given the opportunity) in a second, haunted or not. There's one room where the architect created all these eye-fooling faces disguised as natural whorls in the wood -- wonderfully eccentric.
At one point the mansion was used as a mental institution and the top floor was used for lobotomies . . .
I am so happy for you! That should be an interesting place to live - and people-watch all of the Vaile visitors.
Did you know that John at Syntagma Network has you on the blogroll at Writers BLog Alliance? I kept telling him he would find your blog interesting - LOL
There's a flash science fiction contest on right now - you should go for it!
Hi Marti!
Yeah, I think I'll like living next to the Vaile. They put on a nice Christmas open house, if nothing else.
Thanks so much for getting me onto the Writers' Blog Alliance. Sweet.
Science fiction contest? Hmmm... ;-)
