My tinnitus has abated dramatically in the last week. It's not gone, nor do I expect it to fully go away, but if it stays at its present level I'll be, if not overjoyed, then at least content.

What made it fade? I don't know for sure, although I think a fortuitous change of medication may have played a role. Of course, it could come back -- but at least now I know it has the potential to go away, whereas before I was afraid I was condemned to a life of incessant noise (as many sufferers are).

Given that the pharmaceutical industry is hauling in big dollars for something called "Restless Leg Syndrome," I can't help but think that the medical establishment can beat tinnitus if it really tried.

I don't know you, but really, all the best to you. It's fantastic news that your tinnitus is abating and you're getting some relief. I wouldn't know what I'd do with a constant ringing in my ears.

If traditional medicine isn't working so much, might I recommend "Power of Your Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy?

It's amazing to what level doctors over-medicate. I'm about to go into medicine myself, well aware of the huge corporate construct surrounding the health-care industry. There's nothing wrong, I suppose, with making large amounts of money off medicine, but there is something to be said for the prospect of ruining peoples' lives in the process. Hopefully your situation doesn't revolve around this scenario.

Take care my friend!

Something called "Restless Leg Syndrome"?

Believe me, that's worth researching. It's like a kinetic version of tinnitus. I had it on and off for years and don't now. Unfortuneately, I don't know why it went away, so I can't offer any advice.

I probably spoke too soon; today has been on the bad side. But as long as the bad is relieved with some occasional quiet I can at least remain functional.

WMB--

I was forced to conclude that the off-the-shelf "homeopathic" remedy didn't do a damned thing -- although I'm by no means condemning its use. It might work for other people.

On the whole thats the way tinnitus goes...Good days, bad days. Eventually even bad days are OK because you know a good day is round the corner.

Good luck!

I got tinnitus inmy left ear about a year ago. I'm glad it is just in one ear and probably very mild compared to many other cases I've heard about as I'm able to ignore it most of the time. like you I have noticed that it sometimes is higher and sometimes lower. So far it is not that high that it makes me seriously depressed and I have no problem sleeping as I have sleeping pills. Nonetheless I hope they find a cure eventually since I can't say I really enjoy the experience.

Jeff Wells has writen about a sound like the buzzing of bees that often accompanies UFO or paranormal events.

Could that be something that acts upon whatever mechanism causes tinnitus?

Not to make fun, or anything, but I just have to tell a terrible, old Monty Python joke:

What's brown and rings like a bell?
