Sydney Heat Deaths to Soar Due to Climate Change

"This might sound like a doomsday scenario, but it is one that we must control," said New South Wales state premier Morris Iemma in releasing the report on Wednesday.

Australia is already feeling the brunt of global warming with the worst drought in 100 years eating into economic growth.

On the water front, most of the blame belongs to the state govts. The biggest offenders being the Wran & Carr governments. These two governments sold water rights, west of the Great Divide, when every they got short of money. Sold water that didn't exist (and it was public knowleadge, but not publicly knowleadged, at the time). That is why the western 90% of NSW is allocated at 110% plus.

This 'worst drought in a 100 years' is polly/media beat up too. Long droughts occur from time to time (about once every 50 years). In some places it maybe as bad as the Federation Drought, in other places that not the case.

The big question about this drought is, How much is due to natural variation & how much is Global Warming?

A problem with democracy, is that it's not a system that's good at long term planning.

"It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."

Winston Churchill
