I just read "The Crack in Space" by Philip K. Dick and "Master of Space and Time" by Rudy Rucker. Now I'm back to reading Charles Stross' "Singularity Sky," which I foolishly and inexplicably abandoned several months ago. One of the many virtues of "Singularity Sky" is the way it splices "steampunk" with postmodern space opera without seeming the least bit contrived; Stross really knows what he's doing.

if dick had lived a few years longer, "the crack in space" could have been another of his drug novels
