Another (very) brief teaser from the story I'm working on. Or, more precisely, should be working on:
Something was wriggling determinedly from the recesses of her scalp, swelling as it emerged. It drooped pendulously until resting on her shoulder, a single thread of flesh linking it to mutant tangle of her brain.

I have this Cronenbergian fascination with the disintegration/mutation of the human form. Not just women. Although a lot of women in my stories are robotswho end up falling apart in disturbing ways; I even thought of entitling a prospective collection "Women and Machines" or "Women and Other Machines," sort of a nod to McLuhan's "The Mechanical Bride."
