Peter Watts, author of supposedly "bleak" science fiction novels, confesses: he's an optimist. And I for one believe him.

So do I. There's no rule that says an optimist can't be a cynic, despite the common conception to the contrary. In fact, I'd say the two go hand in hand, if defined as the dictionary would have it as opposed to popular culture's more shallow interpretations and stereotypes. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it! ;)
