Psychologist: 'Alien' faces are none other than Mother
In fact, when Malmstrom optically altered a photo of a woman in a way consistent with the characteristics of a newborn's vision -- astigmatism, an extremely shallow focal plane -- the resulting face looked remarkably like those big-eyed aliens drawn by self-declared abductees, he reports in the latest issue of the magazine Skeptic, which features scholarly articles on the paranormal and other extraordinary claims.
Very interesting -- and certainly more intelligible than the "birth trauma" hypothesis, which compares the "Gray" face to that of a human fetus. While I'm not sure this latest spin explains perceived abductions, I think it deserves methodical follow-up.
Interestingly enough, none other than contactee extraordinaire Whitley Strieber was the first (to my knowledge) to propose a female archetypical origin for "alien" encounters (see "Communion").

That's fascinating! It makes sense, too. I've long thought that fortean sightings in general are heavily reinterpreted according to the predominant symbology and worldview of the one who spots them. You know, like the argument that Ezekiel's Wheels were an alien spacecraft interpreted through the eyes of a holy man.
This isn't to say that people aren't seeing real, objectively and externally existing things. It's more proposing that the things are so far out of our worldviews that our brains create perceptual illusions to make them fit.
as usual they have the causal chain backwards. Its not that aliens look like mom- its that mom looks like an alien because they've been messing with our DNA for thousands of years.

That's pretty much how I look at close encounters. We see what what we allow ourselves to see.
Wowie zowie!
Everybody who's abducted while falling asleep has a mama who is white!!!
And the Nordics must be their whitest mamas for sure.
Sigh.
Not just a fool, but a fool who makes racist assumptions based on his own ethnic heritage, I guess.
But maybe you have to expect a white mamas theory from someone named Malmstrom.
Or is it that it is documented that people of color never ever fall asleep and have close encounters with Greys?
CAN WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF LOGICAL RIGOR HERE? (Yes, I am shouting, I feel like throwing things too).

PS With the usual synchronicities often exhibited by UFO subjects, a reported March 24, 1967 landing of a UFO at Belt, Montana, was investigated by a helicopter sent out from Malmstrom Air Force Base. All that for somebody's scary dream!
I was sad to see someone playing the race card. It is an interesting idea about aliens, and deserves thoughtful consideration, as do all ideas about such an interesting concept. We ought to be civilised enough to think of ourselves as the "human Race", and while thinking of extra terrestrial civilisations keep that in mind.
Well, it is so beautiful to discuss this matter in theory and come up with explanations like the above. I was 4 years old when I had to experience extra-terrestial presence first hand and the same never disappeared since. Mankinds understanding about spiritual existence, specific possibilities within the space-time continuum and "alien" responsibility for this planet and it's evolution, yes including the material aspect of our application devices (bodies) in conjunction with individual spiritual growth via roleplay, can only be described as superbly ignorant. Don't tell me I am out for lunch, because the interest one triggers discussing this matter publicly or in privatly online, can only be measured by the IP presence of the ones responsible for keeping the average, ignorant earthling away from the known truth and gathered facts/evidence.
To my mind every person ought to read it.
This will not truly have success, I believe so.
The author is totally fair, and there is no skepticism.
What exactly you are saying is a huge mistake.
