'Bionic' limb breakthrough made

The breakthrough, developed by researchers at University College London, allows the prosthesis to breach the skin without risk of infection.


This is a heartening step in the right direction, not merely for amputees but for anyone with "augmentation" aspirations. Perhaps some of our first off-world colonists will sport high-powered, vacuum-resistent limbs . . .

If I were going to space, I'd be more interested in vacuum-resistant lungs, I think.
