Human-level intelligences with magic (i.e. physics-breaking, logic-breaking powers) in conflict/the same universe with with hard-scifi post-*inserttheunholy"S"-wordhere intelligences? Like I said, "You must!"

I didn't want to be the first to say it, but I agree. I think it would be hella cool.

The primary hurdle is making it sufficiently dissimilar to "Rounded With Sleep," a worthwhile novel by fellow Kansas Citian Rob Chilson. In his book, live-action adventure gaming has taken over the planet via tele-robotic avatars. I don't want to take that particular route.
