Here we go with more "breaking" news from Whitley Strieber:

Google Map Mystery

"This is a confirmed unknown object in the air above a populated area in the United States, recorded sometime in 2005."

Sorry, Whitley. It's part of a map alignment grid. There are many more just like it. But hey -- if it helps sell more credulous books from your online store, go for it.

Thanks for sounding a note of common sense about this.

Strieber... ick.

You can see more of 'em at the site I linked to; scroll down through the comments until you see the list of URLs, then have a look. Eiether we're under siege by identical silver saucers a la Tim Burton or else these are "data dots" of some kind, which seems the most likely hypothesis since they're arranged in a grid.

I've got mixed feelings re. Strieber. On one hand, I don't think he lied for money with "Communion"; I think something genuinely weird happened to him, something that others have experienced as well. As an "abductee," he's articulate and certainly fun to listen to (especially if you gravitate toward esoteric speculation like I do).

On the other hand, his Web presence is laughable and his sense of importance grossly inflated. To say the least. And I'm massively sick of his hawking stupid books.

...so should I throw out my Strieber book I am reading and profess him a "kook"? He seems pretty "real" in the book, and not prone to self-inflation [in the book]... but, I don't want to read someone who is selling snake oil, you know.

Cyn--

"Communion" is a great book, and I suspect a sincere one. The problem is that, years later, Strieber seems to think he qualifies as a UFO researcher -- and he's simply not.

ohhh. OK. TY.

Yesterday I came across a link that showed an "updated" version of that Google UFO thing... and it was supposed to be an actual photo from someone's back yard that shows the same "UFO"... I will look for the link again and post it.
