Man vs. Machine

"It will be the greatest witch hunt humanity's ever known," de Garis said last week in his Old Main office, "because the stake is so high: survival of the human species."

Wouldn't it be fun to get de Garis, Natasha Vita-More, Hans Moravec, and Bill Joy in the same room?

I think there are two sides to the robot labor issue. So much menial work is soul-destroying; I'd *like* to see robots do the crap work for a change. Ideally, of course, this would allow the current legions of human "grunts" to enjoy a vastly higher standard of living and pursue more rewarding jobs.
