Ex-CIA chief warns of EMP nuke threat

"In an article titled, 'Electronics to Determine Fate of Future Wars,' the journal explains how an EMP attack on America's electronic infrastructure, caused by the detonation of a nuclear weapon high above the U.S., would bring the country to its knees.

"'Once you confuse the enemy communication network you can also disrupt the work of the enemy command- and decision-making center,' the article states. 'Even worse today when you disable a country's military high command through disruption of communications, you will, in effect, disrupt all the affairs of that country. If the world's industrial countries fail to devise effective ways to defend themselves against dangerous electronic assaults then they will disintegrate within a few years.'"

Hehe, if terrorists didn't know what an EMP attack on America's electronic infrastructure can do, they know now...Thanks to all this free info being shared on the world-wide web. It's almost humorous...

If such a nuke was detonated, the main problem we'll have will be social, not because of EMP.

The military and key governmental and industrial infrastructures have been hardened against this kind of thing for a long time. The disruption would be civilian, not governmental. And if you're concerned as a civilian, harden your electronics yourself.

Typical WND story. Inflammatory and inaccurate.

What's a Monday without a little fear-mongering?

harden your electronics yourself:
"... claymore mines and other explosives would be very dangerous to be around at the start of a nuclear box ..."

Looks like the writer had one too many boxes on his mind. I really hope that no one will detonate any nuclear weapons in space, because even if my equipment survives, what's the point if there's no internet? And I don't believe that there are many ISPs that can afford to keep their equipment in Faraday boxes. I am connected by fiberoptics, but everything that is connected that way is also connected to the power grid.

This is not a concern for those of us who rely on our psyionic powers. If you communicate by telepathy, and travel by astral projection, such mundane concerns as a TV that wont work are trivial…Wait, they won’t set this thing off during a Seattle Seahawks foot ball game would they?!?
The BASTARDS! Why isn’t the government doing something about this THEREAT!

I’m not joking here…don’t screw with my Hawks…

Hmmm -- no more TV? EMPs? Bring 'em on!

This won't really have success, I believe this way.
