Now this is weird.

Whitley Strieber, of course, is triumphantly claiming this might be authentic footage of a "drone." To my eyes, it looks more like an airborne pineapple than the alleged insect-like machines made infamous by "Isaac." But that still leaves us with the question of what we're looking at.

Weird it is! I am amazed at the variety of shapes and sizes that people have reported and described throughout the years and now we are seeing more visual video evidence due to the proliferation of personal video recording devices around the planet. I remain fascinated and eager to see more. This shape is a new one for me, the flying pineapple is a good description.

Cool. I'd say it was a pineapple with protective "blades" thrown out the sides along the top.

Kinda reminds me of a Sci-Fi channel commercial.

Here's an "image stabilized" version/excerpt with blow-up by 167%: http://tinyurl.com/32llht

Yes, it does look weird--kind of a circular fringe of blades or spikes surrounding or on top of what appears like a funnel-like substructure. I wonder is this is some kind of kite, inflated aerostat, or tethered balloon-like object. Once again, vague video doesn't provide much to go on, but it doesn't remind me of one of the "Chadian drones" at all really.

V-e-e-ry strange. At first, in the more distant shots, I though it looked like a radio-controlled ornithopter with flapping wings. Then, it came to look more like somebody gliding along in some kind of winged flightsuit, but then.... Yeah, the radiating spikes or whatever they are in the closer shots ruled all this out. It did remind me of the "Isaac" device, which, in turn got me thinking about the possibility of some kind of experimental military drone. This film definitely does NOT look like any kind of "hoax" -- I did think that the excited Spanish in the background lent a certain note of authenticity (so to speak).

Who knows? What I WOULD rule out is an alien spacecraft. At any rate, it sure doesn't LOOK like your "classic UFO." Got to be an experimental military drone of some sort....

It's a shame it wasn't in Rio, the residents would have shot it down with automatic weapons for closer insepction.

This reminds me of the alien ship in "Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension".

This definitely isn't a digital hoax but could very well be an aerial one. What bothers me about stuff like this is that people don't jump all over the opportunity. I mean hell, get in your freakin car and chase that sucker down. Call your friends! Mount an emergency tracking party! Don't let it drift into la-la land. I would be all over that sighting.

It looks like a big balloon with a pointy cardboard fringe. It didn't engage in any extreme maneuvers, or move at all. I like the floating pineapple idea, must have floated off from a parade or something!

Ah, Strieber. More junk/filler to pollute the datastream, I'm afraid.

At least no one has said this one was computer generated.

m4ever,I agree it doesnt look like a CG hoax. the reaction from the people on the background is pretty genuine, as the old lady says the ufo is actually cute and a kid asks 'I wonder if it wants to get us?', not really worried at all.
If these people are acting,I'd say they are good for an OSCAR.

I sure am glad no hoaxer has hit upon the idea of making a CGI "craft" go in and out of focus in a fuzzy compressed video, or making it look like it was shot by a tipsy seven year old! Some freaked out children on the audio would be way beyond all but the most creative of film makers.

Seriously, this is an interesting video, and a very strange object, but a crappy video on You Tube is all but worthless as far as any "investigation." How can anyone rule out "CGI hoax" without a lot more information? Like maybe a decent copy of the tape or whatever? You all are aware that You Tube has hundreds of UFO videos, aren't you? Some are great! I think some are even real.
