New virus may be killing bees

While the virus probably does not alone account for what scientists call colony collapse disorder, or CCD, it could help explain what is happening to bees across the United States, they said.

Bee HIV? This is a weird, disturbing situation. I read the other day that bees imported from Australia had a new virus also, and that these Australian bees may have contributed to the hive collapse syndrome.

Whatever the source(s) is/(are), the real question is will we have sufficient bees by next Spring to do adequate pollination, and if not, what happens to the food supply then? Methinks we may be living in times far too interesting to cope properly with. Hi ho.

Maybe Gaia is getting back at us for ruining her complexion...

Its estimated that one out of every 3 items you eat are bee related. The bees that had natural hives or hives that mimicked the dimensions found in nature seemed to be ok..the factory ones bred for xtreme production did not survive.I ran across a report one day that made mention of the Chinese caught attempting to dump cheap honey here in the US via Canada..How are their honey bees doing..
Take it from there
