Parallel universe proof boosts time travel hopes

But the existence of parallel worlds offers a way around these troublesome paradoxes, according to David Deutsch of Oxford University, a highly respected proponent of quantum theory, the deeply mathematical, successful and baffling theory of the atomic world.

He argues that time travel shifts between different branches of reality, basing his claim on parallel universes, the so-called "many-worlds" formulation of quantum theory.

The new work bolsters his claim that quantum theory does not forbid time travel. "It does sidestep it. You go into another universe," he said yesterday, though he admits that there is still a way to go to find schemes to manipulate space and time in a way that makes time hops possible.

Suppose someone's figured it out. They're wouldn't be violating causality, so they could enjoy a surprising degree of freedom. If they're a version of homo sapiens, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect them to be interested in us, in which case some UFO testimony begins to make sense.

As Deutsch is careful to note, quantum time travel doesn't seem to be possible anytime soon. So if popularly described "aliens" are in fact terrestrial visitors from a version of our own future, how advanced are they?

How advanced? More than we may be able to comprehend. The question then would be, why are they here?

And, if they are here, and have on occassion made themselves known, by some "display" or witnessed and or "documented" incident (via multiple witnesses, photography/video/film, or radar tracking (MASINT)), does that indicate a "mistake" (since one would think they could remain stealthy if desired), or an intentional act to alert those who witness or record such "displays" or presence of advanced non- or post-human entities, even if in a usually semi-covert or plausibly deniable manner, what would be the purpose and effect (on such as on our own timeline or developmental evolution, sociologically or culturally) of any such "display" by post-human, time-traveling entities? Intentional or coincidental OR less-sophisticated than might otherwise be implied by such incidents or encounters??

Riddle me that, jokers... or at least try to explain what might be behind that group of scenarios. The answers might tell us more than is intrinsically shown by such incidents. Which might allow us to narrow down to the more likely scenarios and reasons for such a display or presence.

Of course, on the other hand, such displays or encounter incidents might be tailored to inspire such analysis, and might in turn be "designed" to have a particular effect or impact which is still unknown or unknowable.

Boy, this game-playing is ineffably complex, eh? Very educational or at least a cool kind of mind twister for fun meta-analysis and speculaton. 8^}

Neat theory, and one that I've been personally intrigued with. If you make a couple of assumptions, like, lets assume that man's been around longer than currently widely accepted, and there was a society that, at least, had basic medicine and the ability to sail around the world about 10,500 BC, then it gets really interesting. Lets take a timeline where there's no worldwide calamity around that time. Where would we be if we hadn't started over in 10,500 BC? Well, off hand, I'd reckon a lot more advanced. Just a thought.

I have theorized our future "selves" coming back in time to do some ancestor study. Also being my own devil's advocate I say to myself, "If these are post-Singularity beings, why are they biological as many of these creatures seem to be as told by "witnesses"?

Maybe their society is going through a "nostalia" phase where skin is in and missions to the past are in vogue?

Mr. Intense is right, this is quite the thought exercise!

"coming back in time many times" it should read.

Time for me to put away my sharp toys.

Who says the "Grays" (for example) are biological? They seem quite machine-like to me.
