Les Xénobiophiles is a blog after my own heart. The only problem is that it's in French, a language that, to my considerable chagrin, I can't speak worth a damn.

A most charming francophone science fiction weblog indeed, and unlike many others of its kind, not disconnected from the bustling world of anglophone SF. Like you, its author is usually kind a reviewer.

I second Elan's translation offer, if you can stand my imperfect English and irregular work rate. (I offer summaries too: faster to write and often adequate.)

How dare you! How dare you attempt to charge this man. Who has selflessy and gratuitously brung countless hours of enjoyment as well as volumes of knowledge and enlightenment for your edification and that of millions of others! It should be you who should pay a fee to be even on this blog to bring forth such a shameless proposition . Mac..I implore you not to be taken in by their ruse and for the record..that magazine is not avante garde but is just an new face on old material, or an old face claiming new material and is not even remotely decadent enough to warrant a second pitiful look. No wonder their country is collapsing. If I didn't know better it seemed suspicious that some of the material resembled parts of your website...yesssss..the brain, and a smattering of cheap knockoffs of the retro stuff.like plastic stiletto heels and cheap perfume.hmm I have some young Jewish friends just out of lawschool who might want a look at this..and at no charge to you my most gracious host and kindred spirit..just give me the word Mac..In English, Spanish, German..anything but French,
and we'll give it a go!

SyS: Did you, Elan and Mac take the “deal” seriously? I thought that Mac's emoticon was the evidence that it was not serious, but I'm not good at detecting irony in online conversations… But to make things clear: neither Elan nor I nor anyone else but the Xénobiophiles can proceed with the translation because they opted for a NonCommercial-NoDerivatives Creative Commons license for their weblog.
However, such a license does not prevent anyone from providing English summaries of their posts. (For free, SyS, for free…)

Thanks for your interest in Les Xénobiophiles. I'm actually running the blog with 2 other guys. We are from Switzerland (I live in Japan) but do love english SF a lot. With a clear preferrence for Cory Doctorow, Charlie Stross and the whole cyberpunk family.

Yes, the offer was all in good fun.
Do you really need emoticons to explain whimsy?
No one wants to transgress intellectual property rights, NCNDCC, or any disclosure agreements signed with the NSA, the CIA, or the Grays for that matter.
