Labs scramble to destroy pandemic flu strain

"Nearly 5,000 labs in 18 countries, mostly in the United States, were urged by the World Health Organization to destroy samples of the dangerous virus because of the slight risk it could trigger a global outbreak. The labs received the virus from a U.S. company that supplies kits used for quality control tests."

more like they don't want anyone to be able to readily develop a vaccine, I'd say

this is very suspect, in my opinon. How many disease samples are labs sitting on which pose an even greater threat?

I agree -- very strange. It sounds like the first step of some truly heinous plot to depopulate the planet.

I wouldn't mind some depopulation. Wouldn't want to die from a disease though.

I can't help wondering how many recent epidemics actually started as covert "experiments." There's a whole conspiracy-theory industry around the notion that AIDS is a genetically engineered virus.
