This video is hypnotic.

My only complaint is that I wish the videographer had snuck in the cover illustration for Whitley Strieber's "Communion" just to see if we were paying attention.

Mac - the opening face (the one displayed on the site) is a painting by Ingres and it's in the Met in New York.

When I visit the city (where I lved for a decade) part of my pilgramige is a haunting search for that painting. The Met is big, and you gotta sorta loose yourself (a burt reynolds quote) to find that painting. That painting has a sort of mystical draw for me...

Anyway, it made me curious to see what was so hypnotic.

peace from idaho,

Who is the artist and what is the title for the painting that appears at 1:01? She's wearing an Elizabethan collar and her hair is pulled back.

the woman at 1:01: i would guess El Greco... his model for "St Veronica with the Sudary" seen here, kinda looks like the woman:

if you pause the clip at 1:01/1:02, you can see (faintly) a signature in greek on the canvas; El Greco's full name was Domenikos Theotokopoulos...
