A friend recently asked me about my favorite scene from Spielberg's "Close Encounters." I unhesitatingly mentioned the moment that the mothership's hatch unexpectedly opens after the musical exchange between the scientists and the unseen aliens.

My favorite part is encompassed within this clip. When the mother ship responds, playing the last two notes of the sequence and the windows shatter.

Still makes me jump everytime I see it. :o)

Good scene, but I liked the mash potato mountain. That was a cinema plot device I don't think I'd ever seen before.
