Chairman and CEO of Biotechonomy, Enriquez says that humanity is on the verge of becoming a new and utterly unique species, which he dubs Homo Evolutis. What makes this species so unique is that it "takes direct and deliberate control over the evolution of the species." Calling it the "ultimate reboot," he points to the conflux of DNA manipulation and therapy, tissue generation, and robotics as making this great leap possible.

Improving the hardware just makes the errors in the software more efficient. Utility and consumerism merge to form designer automatons who cant see past their own navel, or for that matter, self interest.
Very scary indeed
AND that....by gAWD....is the very impetus for this piece of work. Perfect. A-Rodger...Houston, we have liftoff.
Homo Evolutis....and yet, with every frail human foible in place and, dare I suggest it, magnified by the very technology we choose to hide it with.
We are the capering fool, the drooling god-child and so intent on grasping what we do not understand.

I reluctantly concur. I think the first responsibilities of transhumanism are the alleviation of suffering and the realization of fundamental rights of all human beings. Unfortunately, there's a pronounced techno-authoritarian vein running through the transhumanist vision, although it's largely subliminal or disregarded by even some of the most well-intentioned advocates.
