Are mobile phones wiping out our bees?

It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food shortages, as the world's harvests fail.

Can you imagine the outcry of cellphone users if it turns out the cellular link is real and a recall is instigated? Or will there even be a recall? If the oil industry is any indication, we may reluctantly embrace environmental collapse if it means we can continue to inform our friends of our whereabouts and remotely check sports scores.

Although it's possible that it's the cellphones, I suspect not. For one thing, there are a lot more cell-phone towers per square foot in Japan and Korea than there are in the U.S., but the CCD started here and is spreading to Europe.

And it doesn't explain other facets of the mystery, either. I'm hoping to get some discussion going over here.

Anyway, you are right... I wonder if there would even be a recall. More likely we'd have a "manhattan project project" to genetically engineer cell-phone resistant bees.

Ha, that would actually be really cool, if it worked.

Lots of cool UFO information on your blog, thanks! As for the bees, have you considered the fact that they are not dying in the hive -- they simply, for all practical purposes, disappear? Would it be too far-fetched to say that they are being abducted, and that it is a harbinger of things to come for the human population as well? In any case, pesticides and GM crops are also suspect, as I have learned from this article, which has an in-depth review of all media has to say on the topic.
