I just spent a while trawling YouTube for what I felt was a fitting, representative clip of the late George Carlin. I finally decided on this:

I'm going to miss this guy terribly.

Me too... he was - well, he was the best.

Still is, really.

Huh. I wonder if John Gray (Straw Dogs) is a fan of George Carlin.

The routine leaves me a little torn, but maybe I'm just suspicious of the cat calls and cheering.

Even though he pretends to be putting people in their place, I'm a little disturbed by his lack of empathy for the currently beleaguered biosphere.

However, I am with him on the weak efforts we've seen to 'save the planet' so far, and the grim implications of our basic inability to get along with one another.

If I may, a quick comment to Justin:

It's not a lack of empathy with the planet that Carlin is expressing, I think, but his failure to believe mankind poses this massive threat to the planet. He seems to perceive our belief that our pollution and general way of life is "unnatural" and catastrophic to earth as just another manifestation of human arrogance...

Never heard of him... besides he's beat us in going to a better place, so don't mourn for him.

Question: if death somehow constitutes a "better place," why don't you put a gun to your head and be over with it? I seriously don't get it.
