While I was never a big fan of Al Gore, he has been a valuable advocate for the scientific community in this instance.

When I first scanned the lede sentence, I thought it said, "Al Gore outlines five steps toward deboning the US in ten years."

I thought, wow, that seems unnecessarily harsh...8^}
