A mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) underwater, a remote control submersible's camera has captured an eerie surprise: an alien-like, long-armed, and -- strangest of all -- "elbowed" Magnapinna squid.

Brilliant. Throw Cthulhu into the 2012 mix!
On which party ticket?
I understand Rhan-Tegoth will be running in the 2012 primaries as a Republican. Go crab-like multi-tentacled uber-squidloid Great Old Ones! I also hear McCain is not happy about being displaced by these younger eldritch star spawn. Oh, well...there's always 2016! 8^}
c: "xygma" -- exactly!
Good God that thing is weird ugly--reminds me somewhat of the alien creatures from "Independence Day."
Cthulhu in the Gulf of Mexico? If that's the case, Houston might not be the best place for me anymore.
Does anyone else think it looks more like a deep-sea squid kite?
This pic especially:

It looks like a trippy marionette . . .
After reviewing the picture I realise what I meant to say was upside-down puppet!
